Why was LAPS director fired? Is there a connection to recent visit by Valley Vets?

Fired Laredo Animal Protective Society former director Lori Brizius told the Laredo Morning Times recently that she did not know exactly why she was fired. LAPS board president Alejandra Landis Farias wouldn't tell the LMT reporter why either. Brizius does mention that the board started talking about firing her last week. Is there any coincidence that it was last week when a group of Valley veterenerians visited LAPS to lend a hand with spaying and neutering?

Veterinarians of the Rio Grande Valley visited the Laredo Animal Potective Society today to help spay and neuter shelter animals.

Shelter officials say the shortage of veterinarians in Laredo makes it difficult to insure all pets are spayed and neutered. So they've opened their doors to vets from the R.G.V. low cost clinic to help get the job done.

Victoria Villanueva of the R.G.V. Lost Cost Spay / Neuter Clinic says, “In this area like in many areas the pet population is just overwhelming. We are killing more than we can adopt out. The best way to rectify that is to spay-neuter.”

Shelter officials say this is the first time they've held a spay and neuter clinic at the shelter

Of course, the sad euthanization of a family pet last week even after the owner had called in and notified the center that they would be picking their pet up Monday (next business day) would be a simpler explanation. Why the board would resort to reinstating the previous director who was fired by the previous board still defies explanation. Well, except for the fact that this is Laredo.  Hijole !
